Updated : 07/04/2021

On March 10, 2021, the Russian Language Club sucessfully organized an event called “Matslenitsa Festival” at the Russian Culture Room. Students attending the activity had an opportunity to meet native speakers, and enjoyed Russian pancakes (блины) which were made by the invited guests and volunteers of the factulty. The event was a valuable occasion for the student to deepen their understanding of the country, people, and culture, as well as the language they are studying. It is hopeful that events like this will be beneficial to students in their ambition of mastering Russian language.

Vo Phan Ngoc Tuyen - a student from class 19CNNDL - shared her feeling: “ I was delighted to take part in Matslenitsa Festival. The event gave me chance to reinforce my knowledge about the Russian festival symbolizing the farewell of winter, and enjoy Russian pancakes made by Ms.Elena and Mr.Dima. We also had much fun playing the game Russian puppet. I really enjoy the event and hope to see and join more such interesting activities organized by the Russian Language Club.”

We hardly talk about Russia without mentioning “Matslenitsa” at least once or twice. It is a Winter Farewell celebration, a long-established tradition of Rusian people. This year, the festival took place from March 8th to March 14th, during which Russian people happily bid goodbye to winter and welcome the arrival of  a warm and hopeful spring.
