Faculty Overview:
1990: being founded as a Division of French, Danang University of Education.
1995: being merged with the Division of Chinese to form the Faculty of French and Chinese at University of Education – the University of Danang.
2003: being founded as the Faculty of French, University of Foreign Language Studies – the University of Danang
The faculty is staffed with 14 members, of whom two are Ph.D holders, one pursuing the doctoral degree, 11 masters. There have been a number of foreign visiting lecturers at the Faculty.
Training Missions:
- Undergraduate level: Bachelor of French, Bachelor of French in Tourism
- Continuing education: Dual degree
- teaching French as a foreign language to students of English, Russian, Chinese, Japanese…at UFLS-UD
- teaching French to students of affiliated member universities in University of Danang and to master candidates of English.
- teaching French to secondary students; students of advanced programmes (PFIEV) and AUF students in University of Technology.
- the teaching staff are key judges in DELF and DALF international committees and they have frequently been providing training courses for French secondary and high school teachers since 2002.
Learning facilities:
The students of French have enjoyed the favorable learning conditions:
- well-equipped and modern learning facilities
- a good library with free wi-fi for searching and getting access to documents, especially French magazines as well as the state-of-art audio and visual facilities in the French library at UD Learning Resource Center.
- practices of communicating in French with native speakers and participation of extracurricular activities at French speaking club in Danang (Cercle francophone)
Majors and Programmes:
- Bachelor of French: graduate students of French who are well-trained and able to work in different professional areas such as French translators and interpreters, or officers in companies, international businesses and social organisations.
- Bachelor of French for Tourism: graduates who can work in travel agencies, resorts, hotels, primer villages; those who can work as tour guides. 3 or 4- year students will be offered more chances to communicate in real situations like: internships at travel agencies, travel companies, hotels or restaurants.
In the second term of the first year, students are able to register dual-course programmes at UFLS or a member university in UD.
