SEMINAR ON " APPLICATION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN LANGUAGE TEACHING: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES”

On May 12, 2023, University of Foreign Language Studies, The University of Danang (UD) organized a seminar titled "The Application of Artificial Intelligence in Language Teaching: Opportunities and Challenges." The event featured a guest speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu - Vice Rector of the University of Foreign Languages - Informatics Ho Chi Minh City (HUFLIT) and Chairman of STESOL (Association of Universities and Colleges in Vietnam). The seminar attracted a large audience of lecturers and students.
With extensive research experience in fields such as Computational Linguistics, Cognitive Linguistics, language learning with the support of information technology, and English language teaching methodology, as well as training and advising on digital transformation capabilities for various higher education institutions and businesses in Vietnam, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu delivered a presentation and shared insights on the intersection of linguistics and computer science, the significance of AI in English language teaching, and the potential of AI to enhance pedagogical effectiveness in language education. Importantly, the presentation also addressed ethical aspects related to the application of AI, addressing concerns regarding privacy, security, and equitable access in language teaching.
