Celebrating Vietnamese Teachers’ Day 20-11 and Awarding Ceremony for 2017-2018 Academic Year

On the morning of November 20, 2018, UFLS-UD solemnly organized the Ceremony for Celebrating the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day 20-11 and Awarding for 2017-2018 academic year.

Remarks by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc – Rector of the University
 
The 36th anniversary of the Vietnamese Teachers’ Day this year is a meaningful event for the lecturers and students of UFLS-UD, marking the outstanding growth and development of a higher education institution which already gained its firm position in the national education system. UFLS-UD  is an incubator for generations of intellectual talents and is the vivid proof of endless achievements by generations of students and teachers. Within the cozy and friendly ambience of the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr.Tran Huu Phuc – Rector of the University said: “The academic year 2017-2018 is full of strong imprints for UFLS-UD, marking such important events as reviewing the half-way achievement through the implementation tenure of the Party congress resolution of UD, and the Party congress of UFLS in the 2015-2020 period. It is also a key academic year for realizing many major missions of the term 2014- 2019 and continuing the 29th Resolution of the Executive committee of the Central party on “Fundamentally and comprehensively renovating education and training”.

Thanks to the great concern and careful guidance of leaders of Party and government at all levels, UFLS – UD has continued to develop in all aspects, stating its title and prestige as one of the three linguistics institutions nationwide. All of the leaders, lecturers, staff and students have proved strong solidarity and made remarkable achievements. The university’s training activities have been diversified at all levels, from the foreign language proficiency enhancement project, undergraduate, master to Ph.D. In addition to the traditional majors, the University has opened the master program for Contrastive Linguistics and the three high-quality undergraduate programs for Chinese, Japanese and Korean. The proposed project for the master program in English teaching methodology and theory was approved by the evaluation committee of UD. The cooperation with educational institutions, localities, universities and research institutes inside and outside the country has continued to be expanded, creating favorable conditions for student exchange, efficient coordination in academic affairs, contact with foreign experts and volunteers. The testing and educational quality assurance has been paid more attention, creating the momentum for enhancing the training quality. Particularly, in 2017, the lecturers, staff and students actively participated in and contributed greatly to the success of the Summit Week- APEC 2017, the 33rd ASEAN Council of Teachers convention organized in Da Nang city. UFLS students, at many speaking contests at national and international levels, always earned top prizes. The achievements of the university in the past academic year inevitably result from the whole institution over many years.
“Respecting teachers and venerating morals always” “Gratitude to teachers and predecessors” is the valuable tradition of the nation, which is also the message from the Rector to the successive generations of the institution.

During the construction and development, UFLS-UD has always received support from the past generations of leaders and lecturers who laid the foundation for the institution. “Excellent Teacher” Dang Cong Ly – Former Head of the Department in charge of Da Nang Foreign Language Teachers’ Education College said: “The meeting today reminds us of the good old days in the early stage when we-at the university had to encounter various difficulties and now when looking back, we feel so proud of the wonderful development and strong growth of the today UFLS.”
 
Also, within the framework of the ceremony was the awarding and complimenting for the most outstanding individuals and groups in the academic year 2017-2018 who made great contributions to the development of the host institution.
