TALKSHOW ENTITLED “6 LETTERS S FOR SUCCESSFUL SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION STRATEGY”

On the morning of 22nd September 2022, UFLS-UD organized the talk show entitled “6 letters S for a successful scholarship application strategy”. This was the first of the series of talk shows on “Sharing experience in cross-continental scholarship hunting” that are intended to spread out to scholarship applicants insightful experience and a well-sequencing path to win their desired scholarships.
At the talk show, the speakers brought up a formular for a successful application strategy, including 6 letters S. They stand for: (1) Search/Source, relating to seeking the sources of scholarships, either government-sponsored or funded by the host university or professors, (2) Score, pertaining to the GPA or the results of English language proficiency tests like IELTS, TOEFL iBT and high-stakes tests like GRE, GMAT, SAT and so on, (3) Study, relating to scientific reseach as the competitive edge, (4) Strategy to select a suitable study program, strive for high-achieving academic standing and gain research experience as soon as possible, (5) Skills of constructing a CV, writing the personal statement, letter of recommendation, research proposal, and how to perform in the selection interview to the fullest, (6) Spirit of resilience and determination to gain the intended scholarship.
Through the information provided by the speakers, the talk show appealed to a great number of students posing many different questions, including but not limited to what courses of action they should take in case of low GPA, how to find scholarships for general practitioner majors, differences between the letter of intent and personal statement, the selection process for postgraduate programs in France, and how to find an appropriate university.
The talk show concluded with the provision of invaluable information for students. This event is considered as a solid foundation upon which those nurturing the intention of pursuing education abroad can push themselves to their limit and soon be nominated for their desired scholarships.
