Announcement Ceremony of Decision on Establishing Department of Foreign Language Teacher Education

On the morning of 10 April, 2017, University of Foreign Language Studies, the University of Danang (UFLS) held a solemn announcement ceremony of the Decision on establishing Department of Foreign Language Teacher Education, the eighth department at UFLS.
Welcoming musical performance
From the initial plan of the former Management Board, thanks to the support of the University of Danang’s Board of Directors and the determination of UFLS’ current leaders, the preparation for establishing Department of Foreign Language Teacher Education started in May, 2015 pursuant to Decision No. 380/QD-DHNN. After more than one and a half year going through different steps corresponding to the correct procedure, the Department is now officialy founded.

“As a member of the University of Danang (UD), UFLS grows under the common directions of UD towards multi-disciplinary development and training closely meeting social demands. Teacher Education has always gained in increasing popularity, which is evident in annual recruitment rates always reaching or exceeding the targets.”, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of UFLS said in the ceremony. “Many UFLS student generations of Teacher Education major have been a main source of foreign language teachers of different levels, contributing to the implementation of comprehensive educational reforms.UFLS is the first educational institution offering Primary Teacher Education programs. During the recent external assessment conducted by Center for Education Accreditation, Vietnam National University, Ha Noi from 23 to 2 April, 2016, a number of teachers and educators who used to be UFLS students were invited for interviews, which showed a great belief in training quality of teacher education branch in the whole educational system of the school.”

Dr Le Thi Giao Chi – Dean of Foreign Language Teacher Education Department said: “The establishment of the Foreign Language Teacher Education Department is a gathering of the teacher education branches of different departments at UFLS. We are fully aware that this is not only a special honor but also a great responsibility. We also take pride in being the pioneers and will devote our effort to developing our department and contributing to accomplishing the university’s mission”.

In the solemn and emotional atmosphere of the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Phan Van Hoa - Former Rector of UFLS shared his thought: “I am deeply moved and so delighted that from this moment, University of Foreign Language Studies will have one more department - Department of Foreign Language Teacher Education. I do hope that all the staff and lecturers will unite in constructing and developing UFLS”.
