Briefing on Fullbright Vietnamese Scholar Program 2018

On the morning of 27 April, 2017, Ms. Do Thu Huong - representative from Fullbright Scholar Exchange Program in Vietnam had a briefing on the Fullbright scholarships in general and the Fullbright Scholar Exchange Program in particular for all the staff and lecturers at UFLS.

At the beginning of the program, Ms. Do Thu Huong provided the most comprehensive information about the program. As she presented, founded in 1946 and funded by the US Congress, the Fullbright Program aims to enhance mutual understanding through cultural and educational exchanges. This is a fair merit-based competition. Selected scholars will have their monthly allowances, health insurance and return tickets covered by the Fullbright Vietnamese Scholar Program (VSP). VSP in cooperation with the International Council of Scholar Exchange will arrange appropriate admissions for scholars in the United States.

Ms. Huong also shared detailed information about the application process, the review of applicant’s records as well as advice on how to prepare the strongest applications.

Also at the briefing, Dr. Nguyen Duc Chinh, a lecturer of Department of Foreign Language Teacher Education – UFLS - a new Fullbright scholar 2017 shared his personal experience of his application process, writing the research proposal and how to submit the online application as well as to perform well at the interview.
