THE UNIVERSITY OF DA NANG AMONG VIET NAM’S TOP 5 UNIVERSITIES IN THE RANKING OF WEBOMETRICS 2015

According to the ranking, Vietnam National University Hanoi ranked on first place, alternately followed by Can Tho University, Hanoi National University of Education, University of Danang, Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, Duy Tân University, Hue University, HUTECH University, Ho Chi Minh City International University, and Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City

Therefore, the position of the university of Da Nang has been upgraded from 9^thto 4^th, compared with the previous ranking (August, 2014).

Vietnam National University ranked 894th and was the only university of Vietnam in the top 1,000. In the Asia Pacific region, Vietnam National University was ranked 212th, Can Tho University 551st, the Hanoi National University of Education 699th and the University of Da Nang 727th.

The Top 10 universities were Taiwan National University, the University of Beijing, Tsinghua University, Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo, Zhejiang University, the University of Melbourne, the University of Hong Kong, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the University of New South Wales.

In South East Asia, the National University of Singapore took the lead, followed by Kesetsart University (Thailand), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Mahidol University (Thailand), Putra University Putra (Malaysia), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Chiang Mai University (Thailand), the University of Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), and the University of Technology (Malaysia). Vietnam National University was ranked 20th, Can Tho University 51st, Hanoi National University of Education 66th and the University of Danang 68th.

Webometrics ranking is not only based on the volume of the Web contents, university web presence, and web access but also focuses on enhancing electronic publications of research results, academic papers and scientific information.

This ranking system measures how strongly a university is present in the web by its own web domain, sub-pages, rich files, scholarly articles etc., especially, research results and number of publications in Scopus database.

In the ranking, Vietnamese universities are ranked lower due to the lack of academic papers published in high profile international journals.
