University of Foreign Language Studies - the University of Danang: Opening ceremony of the 229th AUN-QA External Assessment of the English Language Teaching Programme

On the morning of 23 August 2021, the opening ceremony of the 229th AUN-QA External Programme Assessment of the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance Council took place online. Four undergraduate training programmes to be assessed this time included English Language Teaching of University of Foreign Language Studies and Hotel Management, Banking and Corporate Finance of University of Economics.
Members of the AUN Assessment Team included: Prof. Dr. Fauza Ab. Ghaffar – Assessor of the Corporate Finance programme; Prof. Dr. Myrna S. Austria - Team Leader, Chief Assessor of the English Language Teaching programme; Dr. Ampapan Tuntinakhongul - Assessor of the English Language Teaching programme; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Robert Roleda - Assessor of the Corporate Finance programme; Prof. Dr. Clarita Carillo - Assessor of the Banking programme; Asst. Prof. Dr. Roberto Bruno Gozzoli - Assessor of the Banking programme; Asst. Prof. Dr. Ornlatcha Sivarak - Assessor of the Hotel Management programme; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosula Reyes - Assessor of the Hotel Management programme; Ms Thongpan Boonpanyachon (Seychelles) - Team Secretary; Ms Nisanat Watthayu (Pop) -Team Secretary.
Representatives from the University of Danang included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Vu -President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Quang Son - Vice-President and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Viet - Head of Department of Educational Quality Assurance. Also participating in the opening ceremony were representatives from the universities with the assessed training programmes: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of University of Foreign Language Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan - Rector of University of Economics and leaders of faculties, departments and centres of the two universities.
In his speech at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Manh Toan - Rector of University of Economics warmly welcomed and expressed sincere thanks to the AUN External Assessment Team for their attention, assistance and participation in quality evaluation of the training programmes of the two universities.
Addressing at the opening ceremony, Ms. Myrna Austria – Representative from the Assessment Team offered her congratulations to all the staff and students of University of Foreign Language Studies and University of Economics. According to Ms Austria, this is the 229th external assessment carried out by AUN. The assessment team will review and evaluate the training programmes online with the highest level of objectivity, transparency, fairness and precision.

As scheduled, the AUN-QA external assessment team will work from 23 to 27 August 2021 and undertake a range of professional activities such as: Reviewing the documents, Self-Assessment Report and provided evidence; Interviewing the stakeholders of the assessed training programmes including leaders of the scientific research councils, faculties and divisions, academic staff, students, support staff, alumni, employers; Conducting a remote site visit to have a comprehensive evaluation of facilities, services, channels of educational support, scientific research and student activities.
