Updated : 2021/04/07

The application of information technology in teaching and learning is one of the highlights of University of Foreign Language Studies, the University of Danang (UFLS-UD) in improving the quality of management and training. During the complicated Covid-19 pandemic period, online training and teaching activities have brought high efficiency.

UFLS-UD has proactively switched to online teaching and learning based on different teaching software and systems in both Covid-19 periods. The software’s interactive feature will give lecturers and students the feeling of a real classroom. With individual or whole class answering mode, students can send their task or homework privately to the lecturer or publicly to the whole class, creating a more exciting learning atmosphere.

After just 1 week of online teaching and learning, UFLS-UD urgently built a Studio to deliver e-lectures. In the long term, this studio will help lecturers produce professional digital resources with high-quality lecture clips, organize live academic and educational events, develop and conduct high-quality digital post-production activities. This is aimed at creating a quality and standard digital resource to timely serve the need of students and society in the context of having no direct attendance, or of geographical obstacles.

The application of information technology in teaching and learning foreign languages is one of the missions of UFLS-UD in the process of implementing the National Foreign Language Project 2020. In addition, the university is trusted by the National Foreign Languages Project to develop programs and carry out a number of  important components in the annual plan such as: fostering foreign language pedagogical skills, providing training programs on teaching skills and methods and teaching content innovation, organizing examinations and granting national certificates of English proficiency, providing training and granting national certificates for lecturers as test writers and examiners of English proficiency tests, developing training programs on testing and assessment for university/ college lecturers  and high school teachers in different localities.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Huu Phuc - Rector of the university said: “Building a quality culture is one of the major concerns the university. The university places a strong emphasis on training management quality, teaching quality, and professionalism. Testing activities are independently implemented to ensure objectiveness and accuracy of the training.  Up to now, two training programs of UFLS-UD, the International Studies Program and English Language Program, have been accredited for the quality standards of the Southeast Asian University Network (AUN-QA) at the program level.  The English Language Teaching Program of the Faculty of Foreign Language Education is in progress of making the self-assessment report for the AUN-QA assessment. The university is also finalizing its self-assessment report to prepare for the external assessment at the institutional level in 2021.

On the journey of building up its academic prestige over the past 35 years, UFLS-UD has made tremendous efforts in international cooperation, scientific research among lecturers and students, business cooperation ... to enhance training quality and qualify students for job recruitment in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes. In recent years, admission rate into UFLS-UD has always exceeded the assigned quota, which is a vivid testament to the training quality and prestige of the university.
