Welcoming Kisarazu Mayor from Japan

On the morning of 6/10/2018, Assoc. Prof, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc, the Principal of the University of Foreign Language Studies (UFLS) – The University of Danang (UD), welcomed the delegation from Kisarazu, Chiba, Japan, led by the city mayor Yoshikuni Watanabe to pay a visit and discuss prospective collaboration with the university.

At the meeting, Assoc. Prof, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc gave an overview of UFLS and its achievements in terms of training and international cooperation of the Japanese language program within the last sixteen years. The Principal also expressed the hope to connect, cooperate in training, and exchange culture with local universities in Kisarazu, Japan in training the human resource in accordance with the general development orientation of Danang city. Assoc. Prof, Dr. Tran Huu Phuc welcomed the delegation’s visit to the university, and hoped the cooperation between the school and Kisarazu would be enhanced in the coming future.
 
Also during the meeting, the Mayor Yoshikuni Watanabe said Kisarazu was a small city of Chiba province with a much smaller area compared to that of Danang, but they both had much in common regarding city structure and economic development orientations.
 
Being invited to speak at the final round of the 2018 contest ““I’m gonna be a diplomat”, the Mayor shared some of his thoughts with the participating students about the role of learning foreign languages: “Learning a foreign language is not only having a good command of that language but also understanding more about the culture and people of its country through international exchanges. You have honed all these skills in order to become a diplomat in the future.”

There was a large number of competitors at the 2018 contest “I’m gonna be a diplomat”. The contest was an important academic event among the welcoming activities to freshmen of the Department of International Studies and also a beneficial playground where pupils and students of Danang city could show their language abilities and intellects.
