Workshop “English assessment solutions for higher education: Introducing Aptis”

On 22 June 2018, Danang University of Foreign Language Studies – University of Dang cooperated with Association of Vietnam University and Colleges and British Council to celebrate the Workshop “English assessment solutions for higher education: Introducing Aptis”.
The participants are lecturers in English of 33 colleges and universities from Central and Western Highlands. Associate, Doctor Tran Xuan Nhi – Vice Dean of Association of Vietnam University and Colleges delivered speech in the opening ceremony and emphasized the importance in teaching and learning English nowadays. According to Associate-Doctor Tran Xuan Nhi, “Teaching and learning English should be reevaluated to change and offer the opportunities for the development. English is significantly important which is the key connecting us to the world”

After the opening ceremony, Doctor Victoria Clar- Global Manager in Testing and Assessment of British Council – presented professional knowledge in Testing and Assessment in teaching Foreign Languages and elements constituting a highly standard and well-qualified English Test to more than 100 lecturers. From those, Doctor Victoria Clark introduced Aptis to participants as an effect measure to evaluate the English proficiency throughout the learning process and outcome standard for current students of colleges and universities. The Aptis test is designed and developed by British Council basing on the reference to the CEFR language proficiency framework. Aptis Test is used to evaluate English proficiency in four linguistic skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. This test is also involving in testing Grammar and Vocabulary. The skill tested will be based on the demand of test-taker and test administration. The special feature of the Aptis test is the online testing form on computer with flexible contents, low cost and instant result after 48 hours.
British Council presented certificate to participants completing the training course
Introduced in 2012, Aptis tests have been applied by British Council in several countries with the participant of different participants such as students, undergraduates, job applicant, recruitment companies and global corporation. In Vietnam, British Council coordinate with many colleges and universities, office and business enterprises to use Aptis with very good result and high effectiveness.

Closing the training course, British Council allowed participants who want to experience the Aptis test register. The examination is expected to be held in the third quarter of 2018.
